Workspace Wednesday

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

I thought I would join in on Workspace Wednesday and share a couple of fun things on my craft table.

First up is this new box from Michael's:

I love the inside of this box - fun!

My tools: post-its, a corner rounder, Sharpie pen, adhesive runner, adhesive gum eraser, tape, Burt's Bees chapstick, tweezers, a pencil sharpener and eraser, and a ponytail holder. The cuticle oil got thrown in there, but is optional ;)

And I had to get the coordinating smaller box. Obvi.

Check out these wood veneers I found at Michael's - super cheap and perfect for Project Life! They were part of a new spring display.

What's on your desk?

Project Life Week 2

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Here's my week 2. I'm using the Coral Project Life kit plus items from the Freckled Fawn monthly kit and the Studio Calico monthly PL kit.

Full week:

Left side: Joe got injured. He probably tore some ligaments and he has a tibia fracture. For his picture of the week, he sent me the picture on the bottom left (his view for the next few weeks).

I made this card with little puffy stickers from Freckled Fawn. I was going for a 'pain scale' look... Joe's pretty tough and hasn't complained much about his leg hurting.

Right side: my new favorite tea, scrapbook supply deliveries, and a new recipe that turned out really good!

Since Joe's been having to sit around, we've watched a lot of movies:

How is your 2014 book coming along?

There's just 2 more days to enter my one year blogiversary giveaway - a Just Add Color kit. Contest runs through tomorrow night and I will announce the winner on Friday!!

Jamaica!

Monday, January 20, 2014

Ive been MIA for a couple of days, but I'll be back soon. Right now I'm enjoying a little trip to Jamaica with my hubby.

We're relaxing, soaking up the sun, and eating lots of yummy food.

We've also been learning how to use a wheelchair and crutches... Hubby got hurt about a week and a half ago while climbing a tree... He has fractured his tibia spine, torn his MCL... we'll find out what else is going on when we get the MRI results this coming Friday. He's a tough cookie!

Delta airlines was amazing. They had wheelchairs waiting to whisk him away at each stop along the way. We also got to board the plane first and got to sit in rows with a little extra leg room.

No ocean or pool for Joe, but we've been lounging and enjoying the views.

We're making it work!!

See ya soon!

Project Life Week 1

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

So I'm caught up so far in 2014, haha! :) I love the Coral kit and I love how this week turned out... although I originally thought it would be boring to use one kit the whole year, I've changed my mind about that. Of course I'll be adding other kits and random cards throughout the year, but I love how simple it is to get it done when you limit your choices a bit. I haven't limited my embellishing choices though!

Full week: a new job (!!!), a new planner, taking down Christmas decor, reminiscing about old times, and milkshakes at Chik-fil-A. Perfect.

Left side: I *might* make all of my title cards this way... I got some alpha and number stamps for Christmas. I really like the simplicity of stamping the week and then writing the dates underneath. Lesson learned from last year: I won't be pre-making my title cards. I want to pick the one I want to use each week.

Right side: This year I told Joe he has to send me a picture each week to help me "document his life" better. I want his perspective to be included more than I did last year. And yes, I have an alarm set on my phone for every Sunday night so I can ask him. Wonder how long it will be before he realizes that?! He took a picture of his coffee cup and the fireplace at Cracker Barrel and the little cow picture. His pictures are going to liven up my PL, that's for sure!

My cousin found this picture of me and my grandfather. I'm so glad he and his wife sent it to me!

I think these little mountains may be a symbol to go along with my One Little Word choice!

I'm still chipping away at those little star stickers from a Freckled Fawn kit a couple months ago. I've used more blue than pink stars.

I know this stamp has been around for a while, but it's new to me! And it fit perfectly in this journaling spot.

So how are you going to keep up with PL this year? Do you set time aside each week? Or print out your pictures monthly? Leave me some tips in the comments!

Project Life Week 52

Friday, January 10, 2014

So here it is - my last week of the year. I've never done such a huge project... I'm proud of myself for keeping up and not losing interest (most of the time anyway!)

Full spread: Christmas, New Years, and everything in between! I'm using the Coral edition for my PL 2014, and couldn't help but try it out this week :)

Left side: bowling, Starbucks, and a screenshot from the FitBit Joe got me for Christmas.

Right side: our Christmas presents, New Years, a silly FaceTime call with Mom, and me and my brother being stupid before Christmas Eve dinner.

Even though Christmas was in this week, I just added a little bit of Christmas flair:

And I just had to include one of those fun little shaker cards :)

If you did Project Life this year, are you caught up? How far did you make it?

Lucky Charm printer tray

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

My mom and I made my coworker a decorated printer tray using American Crafts "Lucky Charm" and other coordinating bits. Her and her boyfriend are so sweet together. I LOVE how it turned out. Seriously one of my favorite things I've ever made. And the recipient loved it. She said if her house was on fire, she'd grab it off the wall. That's pretty serious! ;)

I backed each spot on the tray in different colors. Most are from Lucky Charm, although some are not. The others matched fine tho!

I cut the "LY" off this chipboard accent and it fit perfectly into one of the spots. I finally got to use some Heidi Swapp letters for their initials. The bows are from Freckled Fawn.

We used tons of stickers and small cutouts to decorate each spot.

I love these little love note envelopes!

There were plenty of sweet sentiments to include in some of the spots.

Those spots on the left side were tricky because they're so skinny. I'm glad I finally got to use one of those Martha Stewart keys I just *had* to buy!

Such a sweet pic!

How cute is this??

  • Finishing PL 2013 and December's #30lists.
  • Making a new blog planner to keep myself organized.
  • Chik-fil-a milkshakes. Two days in a row.
  • On a related note, trying to take 10,000 steps per day (got a FitBit from my hubby for Christmas!
  • Putting away Christmas decorations (not those glittery mini houses... They're "wintery" not "christmasy").
  • Thinking up new topics for the blog.
  • Drinking hot tea.
  • Hanging out on the couch snuggling under the electric throw. Baby, it's cold outside!
  • Looking forward to Jamaica in less than 2 weeks.
  • Oh, and that big change (see day 4) I said I was working up the courage to do? I finally did it. Starting a new job on January 27. Can't wait!!

Project Life Weeks 50 and 51

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Another double post of Project Life!

Week 50: Full spread (1 insert): I used the Honey PL kit for most of this week. I like it, but it's a little.... rainbow-y. A bit brighter than I intended to go this week, but I still like it. I'm still loving the white borders around the photos and the rounded and straight corners.

Left side: Most of this week documented our trip to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. We went to see the gingerbread houses on display, have dinner, relax, and for me to go to the spa! I used a couple more of the Becky Higgins photo overlays. Still in love with them.

Front of insert: I really like to take those kind of coasters when we go places ;) They fit perfectly in 4x4 spots!

Right side and back of insert:

Back of insert: The bottom picture is an outside view of the subterranean spa at the Grove Park Inn. It's SO beautiful inside.

Right side: Loving that new Candy Crush world, flowers from my hubby, and selling stuff on eBay!

Week 51: I used the Polka Dot Party mini kit this week. Such pretty colors!

Full spread: finishing up Christmas shopping and crafting, organizing, a mani, shipping packages, and a bit of crafting.

Left side: I also had a death in my work family - a pharmacist I had known for 16 years passed away unexpectedly. It was a shock.

I added a little heart sticker to the lens on one of the cameras.

Right side: Haircut redo, crafting with Mom, shipping packages. My little owl totes from Thirty One really came in handy this week to carry all those packages into the post office.

I made a little collage to jazz up this photo.

I snapped a photo of our craft space while Mom and I were working on a Christmas present (a decorated printer tray) for a coworker of mine - Look for a detailed post on that project soon! It's one of my favorite things I've ever made!

I saved the wrapper from one of my cough drops.
