December Project Life

Friday, February 26, 2016

Ok! Last seasonally inappropriate Project Life spread! Woot woot! This wraps up 2015 and I think I'm going to continue this monthly format with occasional 12x12 layouts. It's worked pretty well for me.

First pages of December:  I mostly used the Cottage Project Life kit for this layout.

Left side: Lego's, essential oils, the decal I made for Joe's truck, chicken casserole

Right side: our fancy new movie theater, a selfie, piano, a trip to Biltmore, Speedway in Lights.

I found a 12x12 cut apart sheet in my Christmas stash and used it to document several Christmas and Christmas Eve related activities (addressing cards, Honey Bear on Christmas Day, our tree, my new car stereo, and some of our wrapping paper).

And here's how it looks beside of my Christmas Day 12x12 layout.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Joe and I went over to my parents house on Christmas Day. My brother was in town and we all had dinner together. Mom surprised us by making some photo booth props for a family picture. I used a sketch and came up with this - a busy (but fun!) layout.

I cut this title out on my Cameo. The background paper is from Heidi Swapp and most of the smaller papers are from MAMBI.

I love this little bow, snowflake, and flair cluster.

I've been hoarding this stitched present shaker for a while...

This is a Heidi Swapp banner. I added the star, snowflake, and tree.

Ok - just have my December Project Life left to share!

November Project Life

Thursday, February 18, 2016

November's page start out with the New Truck layout and an insert. I trimmed down a larger 12x12 page protector to make this insert.

Insert: Thanksgiving, a card for a friend, and the finale of our bathroom facelift! We got the room painted and I hung up my new shower curtain.

Back of insert and right side of layout: I used the Cottage Project Life kit from Becky Higgins.

Back of insert: a quick overnight trip to Dollywood and Gatlinburg. We took a pic in a giant snow globe, saw the Christmas lights, and had some awesome meals at Loco Burro and Crockett's Breakfast Camp.

Right side: our trip to the All Things Silhouette Conference in Peachtree City, Georgia. This event needed its own page for sure!

Valentine Card

Monday, February 15, 2016

I made hubby a Valentine card. I saw the "Lucky in Love" sticker and thought it was perfect since we're going to Las Vegas to celebrate our 5th anniversary!

I mixed some Crate Paper and another Valentine collection from my stash.

I had to include a little bit of sparkle 💜

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

New Truck layout

Friday, February 12, 2016

Hubby got his first new truck! That's definitely a 12x12 worthy event! After extensive research, he got a 2016 Ram 2500. It's perfect for his tree business and for our camping trips. This truck has so much more power than the old one - can't wait to see how it tows the camper!

I used Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice, some Ali Edwards journaling cards and embellishments, and wood veneer on this layout. The tag that was attached to his keys didn't exactly match... so I tucked it in a little bag behind some paper.

The "first" is from an Ali Edwards Story Kit last year.

Had to include the date, so I used an October Afternoon die cut arrow and a roller stamp.

Any tips for making masculine scrapbook pages? I think this one turned out ok, but it's kind of hard to do!

October Project Life

Monday, February 8, 2016

I was able to do October's Project Life pages with 1 12x12 and a slightly smaller insert.

Left side: a pic of our neighborhood (Joe took it with his drone and you can see it better here), cleaning out my closet, FaceTime with my Mom, a day trip to Dollywood, and a special yoga class.

Insert: a long weekend in Atlanta (best hotel view ever here), a deluxe movie theatre, and Six Flags.

I can't get enough of that neighborhood pic:

How cute is this card?? I received it in a Project Life card swap a year or two ago... I've been saving it for the perfect fall page. I believe the girl made it out of washi tape, then put it through her embosser. Love!

Back of the insert: our camping trip to Roan Mountain and celebrating Halloween with my coworkers.

And here's how the insert looks with the Hello Autumn layout.

Fall sure is the best (and most beautiful!) time of year.

Essential Oils

Friday, February 5, 2016

TGIF!! So if you follow me on Instagram, or if we're friends on Facebook, you've probably noticed that I started using essential oils a few months ago. Don't worry, this isn't going to turn into an essential oil blog! But I do want to start sharing some information with my readers because the oils are part of my everyday life!

I got a starter kit last summer. It came with 11 oils and a diffuser. I started using some oils topically to alleviate symptoms of bug bites, headaches, and allergies. Then I started adding oils to my diffuser to make my house smell good! I've been using oils more and more and believe in them so much, I've become an independent distributor of Young Living essential oils.

February is the best time for me to start sharing because Young Living is having a sale - 10% off a Starter Kit! That only happens like once a year. Add that to the $20 bonus I'm offering and you've got a crazy deal.

I plan on adding 1 or 2 oil posts per month because this blog is about my life, my scrapbooking, my reading, and everything else that's important to me. I'll be sharing which oils I use and what purposes I've used them for. Are essential oils a part of your life? Have a great weekend!

Hello Autumn layout

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

I took one of my favorite pictures EVER last October and decided it needed a full page layout! Joe and I ran across an Octoberfest at a local ski resort. After watching some polka dancing and having lunch, we took the ski lift up to the top of the mountain. It was so foggy and beautiful.

I used a sketch from a Facebook group and used Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice for most of the layout. I wanted to include the ski lift ticket, but layered it underneath the photo so the white wouldn't be so glaring.

I scattered some cute flair, enamel dots, and leather flowers around the page.

True statement! October is my favorite month.

I enjoyed all the layering on this layout.

Thanks for stopping by!

January Book Report

Monday, February 1, 2016

I loved making reading a priority in 2015, so I'm doing it again this year - but in a different way! I have a big list of books I want to read so I'm just going off that list instead of following a prompt. My goal is to read 30 books in 2016. You can click the affiliate links below if you want to read the summary and other reviews of the book.

I started with The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan. I've always loved books about Chinese culture and history and I've read several of Amy's books. I liked the way the character's fates intertwined. This wasn't my most favorite book of hers, but it was good.

Next up was The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fck. It's a spin-off on Marie Kondo's decluttering book. It was a funny read but (obviously) uses a certain four-letter-word A LOT. Like every paragraph. It talks about how to get rid of mental clutter and self-imposed obligations.

I found The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry on Kindle Unlimited. It's about a persnickety bookseller in a small town. He gets a second chance at life and takes full advantage of that chance. The story is so cute and it's a fast read.

I started reading The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. I've heard nothing but good things about this book for years but am just now getting around to reading it.

What's the #1 book on your To Read list?
